During the course the students can get information about the deposition of organic monomers which can be carried out in most cases through anodic oxidation. Basically, the as-prepared organic deposits can be divided into two groups, the insulating and conducting polymers. In viewpoint of electronic conductivity the organic layers deposited from a monomer differ strongly from the composition of media. Dialkoxybenzenes are typically monomers where non-aqueous solvents can be used and severely anhydrous conditions are required for obtaining conducting polymers and from a certain water content rather insulating layers develop. Typically insulating polymers build up from phenols, naphthols as well as phenoxy or naphthoxy group bearing compounds. Conducting polymers form from aniline, pyrrole, tiophene and their derivatives during the electrooxidation. If the used monomers and/or solvent has carbon-carbon unsaturated bonds this phenomenon makes more complicated the electropolymerization. The course gives information about the disadvantages of the phenomenon electropolymerization but also about the versatile utilization options. It will be also mentioned where and how electrochemical copolymerization can be utilized. At the end of course students will have also a possibility for the practical studies.
