On 5 July, graduates of biotechnology and pharmacy at the University of Pécs received their diplomas in the Dr. Romhányi György Aula of the Medical School.
The graduates of the Biotechnology BSc and Pharmacy programmes received their diplomas in the afternoon ceremony, greeted by Dr. András Komócsi, Vice-Rector of the University of Pécs, who reflected on the evolution and role of artificial intelligence, emphasizing that AI will not take over our jobs or replace us. He said it is important to keep up with innovations and use technology wisely while remaining empathetic, responsible, and collaborative.
This year marked the first time that graduates of the English-language Biotechnology BSc programme received their international diplomas.

56 students successfully completed their final exams at the Faculty of Pharmacy. After they received their diplomas, Dr. Dániel Halász-Mojzes and Dr. Mohammed Khalifa expressed their gratitude.
Among the graduates, Dr. Virág Ángyán, Dr. Thanh Vinh Nguyen, and Péter Faludi were awarded for most outstanding student research.
Dr. Iris Renáta Mező received the Dékány Miklós Foundation Award for her excellent academic performance and community work.
Dr. Elvira Fábián, Dr. Ochenjele Wayne Awugocho, and Máté Zoltán Szijártó received the award of the Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education in Pécs for their outstanding academic results.
Dr. Dániel Halász-Mojzesreceived a certificate for his outstanding academic achievements, having earned an additional 30 business credits alongside his pharmacy studies, meeting the requirements for enrolment into the business master's programmes.
Several institutions were awarded the “Faculty of Pharmacy Outstanding Practical Training Site” recognition for their active participation in professional practical training and for providing outstanding educational standards. The Szilvás Pharmacy in Komló received the award in the field of public pharmaceutical services, the Institutional Pharmacy of the Somogy County Kaposi Mór Teaching Hospital in the field of hospital pharmacy supply, and Viatris Healthcare Kft. in the field of pharmaceutical industry.
The UPMS Institute of Physiology and the Prophyl Kft. in Mohács received the title of “Outstanding Practical Teaching Site” for their high-quality professional practical training of biotechnology students.
“You are the first graduating class of the Biotechnology BSc programme, which is a remarkable achievement that is of great importance for the Faculty of Pharmacy and the entire university. However, this is not the end of your studies, as many of you will continue to study in a master's programme. I am confident that whatever path you choose - whether it is a career in the workplace or further studies - you will do an excellent job. Your forward-looking, innovative generation will play a key role in tackling environmental, agricultural and animal welfare problems, as well as solving medical and pharmaceutical challenges,” said Professor Judit Pongrácz, Head of the Biotechnology programme, in her speech.
“A diploma is the tangible representation of what you actually get. A door now opens for you that you could not enter before, and it says ‘opportunity’. Behind this door are new doors, rooms, and challenges, filled with joy and success. The key lies within you, in your knowledge, your curiosity, your perseverance, and the passion with which you are pursuing your profession”, said Dr. András Fittler, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, in his speech.
On behalf of the fresh graduates, Dr. Fanni Bakos, Dr. Ochenjele Wayne Awugocho, and Máté Zoltán Szijártó delivered speeches to their professors and family members.
