Classrooms and Community Spaces Renovated at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Pécs

On January 30, 2026, the renovated community spaces and teaching rooms at the University of Pécs Faculty of Pharmacy were officially inaugurated in a ceremonial event.

The aim of the development was to create modern, welcoming, and functional spaces for the faculty’s students, lecturers, and staff that strengthen community life, encourage informal meetings, and provide opportunities for smaller discussions, professional conversations, and other faculty events.

The renovation was made possible through the support of the Universitas Quinqueecclesiensis Foundation and the contribution of the Hungarian Chamber of Pharmacists.

At the ceremonial handover, attendees included Dr. András Fittler, Dean; Dr. Krisztián Kvell, Vice Dean for General Affairs, Science and Innovation; and Dr. Szilárd Pál, Vice Dean for Organizational Development and Relations. Also present were Dr. Attila Miseta, Rector of the University of Pécs; István Decsi, Chancellor; Dr. Norbert Vasváry-Nádor, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology of the University of Pécs and head of the design and implementation; and Linda Bánvölgyi, Investment Expert at the University of Pécs Department of Investment and Property Management.

Representing the Hungarian Chamber of Pharmacists, the event was attended by Dr. Zoltán Hankó, President; Dr. Simon Fang, Vice President; Attila Horváth-Sziklai, Head of Office; and Dr. Imre Kőhegyi, President of the Baranya County organization.

The community spaces have not only been aesthetically renewed, but their functions have also been expanded: monitors installed in the building’s stair landings display news, events, and courses from the faculty’s units, institutes, and the Students’ Council, helping orientation and strengthening communication between the institutes and students.

The interior decoration and walls of the new classrooms were designed according to a consistent concept, featuring patterned wallpaper based on the university’s new visual identity, and they present content related to pharmacy and biotechnology education.

One of the classrooms presents inspiring career paths in the pharmacy profession and reinforces a sense of vocation, while the other is built around the theme of sustainability. One of the community spaces supports professional identity and connection to the Chamber; its wall features outstanding figures of the pharmacy profession such as Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka, Emil Felletár, János Kabay, Zsigmond Katona, István Örkény, and József Rippl-Rónai. The other renovated space offers an insight into various fields of biotechnology.
