The 17th Faculty of Pharmacy Professional Day focused on research, career development, and early professional experiences

At the end of September, the lecture halls of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Pécs once again filled with students and professionals. This year’s Professional Day and Evening were held in the spirit of career orientation, scientific advancement, and community building.

Hungarian and English programs ran in parallel, offering participants scientific lectures, inspiring roundtable discussions, and research presentations.

The event was opened by Dr. Szilárd Pál, Vice-Dean for Organizational Development and Relations, followed by Prof. Dr. Krisztián Kvell, Vice-Dean for General Affairs and Innovation, who presented the structure of the doctoral program and the opportunities offered by a research career.

Next, Dr. Györgyi Horváth, Chair of the Scientific Students’ Association (TDK), highlighted the importance of involvement in TDK activities and how research contributes to students’ professional and personal development.

One of the keynote speakers of the morning, Prof. Dr. Csaba Szántay, gave a personal and thought-provoking talk about the motivations, challenges, and human aspects of a scientific career. During the “Alumni Inspirations” session, Dr. Gréta Tarlós (AbbVie) and Dr. Roland Csőke (Medimpex Gyógyszer Zrt.) shared insights about their professional journeys from the lecture halls to successful pharmaceutical careers.

In the English-language alumni discussion, Dr. Tamás Kovács (Richter Gedeon) and Dr. Tamás Czömpöly (Prophyl Ltd.) spoke about the meeting points between research and industry in pharmaceutical innovation.

Throughout the day, the Career Fair provided students with the opportunity to meet potential employers in person, while the TDK poster exhibition showcased current research topics from the Faculty’s institutes.

The event concluded with an award ceremony and a jubilee program presentation, recognizing outstanding student and faculty achievements.
